A criminal record can continue to create barriers long after a sentence has been completed. Those barriers can affect employment, education, volunteering, and other opportunities. The stigma associated with a criminal record can also make moving forward more difficult.
Clear Past was created from a commitment to helping people take an organized step forward. Our roots come from more than 18 years of workforce and employment experience and more than 15 years of community development, advocacy, and crime-prevention work involving youth, families, newcomers, and communities. Through this work, we have seen how barriers can affect a person's ability to access meaningful employment, education, opportunities, and participation in community life.
We recognize that people from different backgrounds and communities can experience barriers when trying to move forward after involvement with the criminal justice system. Clear Past is committed to making the administrative side of the record suspension process clearer, more organized, and more accessible.
